Behind the Decks — First Live Set Recap
Last Saturday night I played my first official live set as Loop Loud at The Warehouse in downtown Tacoma, and I'm still processing the energy from that room. The venue was intimate — maybe 150 people packed into a converted industrial space with exposed brick and low amber lighting. It was exactly the kind of setting I'd imagined for a debut.
The setlist blended atmospheric electronic cuts with hip hop edits and a few unreleased originals from the upcoming project. I opened with a slow-building ambient intro that let the room settle in, then gradually layered in heavier percussion and bass until the crowd locked in. The transition from the moody first half into the high-energy second half felt seamless in a way I hadn't fully rehearsed — sometimes the best moments come from trusting the moment.
What stood out most was the community in the room. Friends, fellow producers, people I'd never met who just showed up because they heard about it online. There's something powerful about that. Tacoma's creative scene is tight-knit but wide open at the same time, and I felt that on Saturday. People stuck around after the set to talk about the music, share ideas, and plan what's next.
I walked away with a handful of lessons: always soundcheck twice, bring backup cables, and never underestimate what a room full of people who actually want to be there can do for your confidence. More live sets are in the works — bigger rooms, more visuals, and a few surprises I'm not ready to announce yet. If you were there, thank you. If you missed it, the next one is coming soon.
